Arriving from my fantastic stopover in Budapest, it was time to head to Zurich and Bern for meetings as well as visiting family. I'm very lucky to have family who live near Zurich and upon arriving, I met up with my cousin Zuerichspotter and we toured the downtown area to check out the Christmas decorations.
Always stunningly beautiful, it never gets old and I never take it for granted.
Love the swans everywhere in the lake.
The festive Xmas markets.
With the short days it's great as they light up.
The avenue of lights that look like stars, I love it!
Also several of the trees were lit up on this evening for the first time of the season.
The next morning we were greeted by a dusting of snow, as someone from Northern California, it's always special to see snow, especially not "just" in the mountains.
Off the Bern for a day of meetings and tour with Zuerichspotter's Godmother who works at the capitol.
The capitol building in the background.
After meetings for the most of the day, I was free by mid-afternoon and I met up with Zuerichspotter and his Godmother. She gave us a fantastic tour of the capitol building, but behind it are just magnificent views over Bern and the river.
Back inside the capitol and the tree for the Xmas season.
A very cool experience was getting tea in the lounge area for the congress.
And atop the building overlooking the bridge across the river.
After a great tour, we walked across the bridge to check if the bears might be out in the bear pit.
Beautiful sunset along the way.
And the bear pit, that's right kids, not just in GoT. Unfortunately the actual bears were hibernating or aren't actually there anymore...
Back across the river and to the train station to head back to Zurich.
On one of the final nights of my stay, we went to watch an ice hockey game at the Swiss Arena in Kloten.
Some fun festivities!
A good game that went right down to the wire.
What a great time as always in Switzerland. It's always great to see family and friends, but also so exciting to meet and see new tech startups trying to bring Silicon Valley style innovation to new industries.
It was off to Amsterdam after this for the bulk of the business trip aspect of this trip, since it was mainly boring I didn't document it.
