The Bazaar by Jose Andres

After finishing up a project in LA, I took the team out to celebrate by going to The Bazaar by Jose Andres. It's located inside the SLS Hotel and is quite large with lounge seating, dining and a separate dessert area.

As we got seated, a server with a dry ice cart came up to make us cocktails.

I started with the LN2 Caipirinha which captured the classic flavors and was a really fun presentation.

First up we had a round of creamy soup with a crispy topping, very flavorful.

Then an always classic of caviar cones, very reminiscent of Thomas Keller's version.

Next up was a great uni and foam presentation, was just superbly fresh.

Next up olives two ways. On the left were classic marinated olives in typical Spanish fashion. On the right the modern Ferran Adria style, you pop the spheres and upon bursting it's a pure olive flavor. Incredibly tasty and fun.

Next up, a round of ahi tuna cones - also great.

For some greenery, we had very fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto.

Then fresh hamachi carpaccio with chicharrones was a great combo.

Had to have some Jamon Iberico, really good as always.

Then one of the best things I've ever had. Imagine a hollow shell loaf of bread, filled with rich parmesan cream, then topped with seared wagyu. It really doesn't get better or more umami filled than this.

I could eat trays of this...

Piquillo peppers to get some more veggies in.

Last savory dish for the evening were two eggs perfectly cooked with jamon Iberico, you can't go wrong.

As we finished up our savory courses, we were escorted to the dessert room nearby, some cool stuff to check out on the way.

Literally like a kid in a candy store!

We ordered a sampling of desserts and cocktails. This was a white chocolate raspberry mousse/tart, fantastic.

Also a really cool dry ice ball with ice cream in the middle, fun and tasty.

The last dessert was a puff pastry with caramel mousse and some mignairdes.

The final cocktail of the evening was a raspberry and gin cocktail with some theatrics.

All together, a fantastic meal that is flavorful, familiar and fun. I'd always recommend stopping by any of Jose Andres' restaurants around the world.
