I was very excited for a new adventure to explore and relax in Sri Lanka. While I had great longhaul legs, my award ticket had me flying Alaska economy from SFO to LAX. Because of my CX legs, I wasn't able to OLCI and had to go to the counter, luckily with no wait.
After a quick check-in, I decided to head to T3 and grab a cocktail at the Amex Centurion lounge.
Cool connector from T2 to T3, only issue is there isn't a post-security connector like T1 to T2, hopefully they eventually fix that.
Through security quickly and continuing down T3.
Quick plane spotting of the heavies at the international terminal.
Near the connector between T3 and the international terminal is the Amex Centurion lounge at SFO. Check out this post about it.
After my lounge visit, I headed back towards terminal 2.
On the way decided to quickly stop to do some plane spotting from the old Terminal E.
I was just in time for a BA 744 taking off.
Some of the modern art at the end of the terminal.
The CX 350 arriving, I haven't flown one yet, but would love to.
After some plane spotting, I exited T3 and went to T2. Headed to my favorite restaurant area.
The Plant has great juices and smoothies, The Citrus C is my go to and is fantastic before or after a flight.
We lined up to board and had a hilarious (obviously ex-VX) gate agent. Luckily fairly organized boarding.
Onboard an ex-VX plane.
I'll take a moment to say WTF is going on here... The picture should say enough but it's absolutely stupid to need these many connectors to do what I want. While I use Airpods day to day, on a long haul flight I want to use my QC25's (I don't want to deal with batteries in yet another device and get the QC35's) and I want to show up with a fully charged phone.
An on time pushback and beautiful sunset in progress.
A quick taxi to 1L with a UA 757 waiting next to 1R.
On climb out spotted a UA 772 that had been sitting at the end of 1R for a while and saw they were just running the engines, would love to know what that's for (break-in, test, etc).
A nice bank and great views of SF and the sunset.
Stunning!
Soon enough it was time to begin our descent into LAX.
Pulled up at T6.
A quick and simple flight, now time to make my way to TBIT and checkout the American Flagship lounge on the way.
