After sleeping in, we hopped on the train to Lucerne and had beautiful views of the Alps along the way.
Outside the Lucerne train station before we headed across the river.
The pristine views across the river and town, it's like a postcard in real life.
The mountain ranges, several were in morning clouds, but this would burn off in the afternoon.
Really fresh vegetables and fruit and small markets along the river.
Time for some lunch and we found a spot right along the river.
We each had wildly different dishes, Zuerichspotter with a flat bread that was fantastic.
MsFlamingo with a Thai style soup.
And of course my favorite a Wienerschnitzel!
After lunch we continued walking along the river banks and headed to cross the famous bridge that is one of the oldest.
View from the bridge.
So many amazing paintings within the roof of the bridge.
We then met up with one of Zuerichspotter's aviation friends and had a coffee along the river.
More amazing views along the river bank as we walked up to check out the old castle walls on the hill.
And just because, had to make a gelato stop.
With gelato, we headed up the hill and made it to the wall.
Inside view from one of the levels in the watch tower.
View from one of the windows over the lake.
View along the wall.
Then the clock tower, pendulum down below.
The gearing for the bell.
The bell!
Back down on the other side of the wall and view.
There was even a petting zoo with the goats going head to head, literally.
Heading back down the hill into town to see the lion monument.
The lion monument dedicated to Swiss fallen soldiers.
Back towards the lake and a pretty church.
Views walking along the lake back to the train station.
Picture perfect.
Panoramic from the lake.
Tourists feeding the swans, I was secretly hoping one of the swans would make a scene since they can get quite aggressive.
The symphony hall that is supposed to have some of the best acoustics in the world, would love to see a performance there someday in the future.
View from near symphony hall towards the other side of the lake.
With swans to complete the scene.
With that we hopped on the train back to Zurich. Lucerne is absolutely gorgeous and would highly recommend everyone visits.
