With a conference starting on Sunday and running into the week, we figured we could start MsFlamingo's birthday celebrations by joining me for the start of the weekend to have a good meal or two and catch O by Cirque du Soleil (we'd been trying to get tickets forever and could never find availability when we'd be there).
Below are the trip links:
The conference had great rates at the Aria and was able to get a deluxe room which was more than enough.
The Friday night we went to CUT by Wolfgang Puck at the Palazzo, one of my favorite steakhouses, they do a superb job. Check out the post about that dinner here:
After dinner to walk off some of the calories, we headed up to the Wynn to check out the decorations before calling it a night.
Impressive flower balloon!
The next morning, started with a hearty brunch to fix the woes of the vino and cocktails from the prior evening.
We headed over the Bellagio to check out the fountains and shops.
We headed to the Qua Spa at Caesar's for a relaxing afternoon and massage before getting ready for dinner.
With the early showing of O at the Bellagio, we picked Michael Mina for dinner that way we would be close. They also had a theater menu which is helpful for timing. Check out the Michael Mina dinner here.
After a great dinner, we headed over to the theater and our seats.
A spectacular ceiling.
The pre-show fun typical of Cirque.
And then the show, no cameras here, just watching the amazing acrobatics and aquatics!
The very end of the show and "credits"- absolutely amazing and we can't recommend enough, seeing the show if you ever get the chance.
The next morning, MsFlamingo headed to the airport to fly home while I went to my conference. That evening I had a work dinner at not that interesting of a restaurant. After dinner however I went to my favorite tranquil oasis on the strip at the bar in the Mandarin Oriental.
A nice glass of Grand Marnier 100 was perfect as a nightcap.
The next evening however I didn't have any dinner plans and originally scored reservations for L'Atelier by Joel Robuchon, one of my favorites anywhere in the world. However when I got there, found I had the opportunity to dine at the 3-star Joel Robuchon restaurant which I took up. Check that out here.
The following evening I was super excited to have finally scored a ticket to e by Jose Andres! Check that amazing experience out here.
It was time to go home the next day after a really informative conference (which is a rare thing). Before heading to the airport, had a late lunch and needed a good bowl of ramen from Momofuku ramen.
Solid and hit the spot, David Chang knows what's up.
Off to the airport and spent some time in the dilapidated Priority Pass lounge waiting for my flight. At least outside were a Korean 77W and BA 744.
On the way back home, a beautiful sunset.
A great trip that was productive and fun!
