I was very excited to try an Adria family restaurant and was able by luck to just walk into Bodega 1900 and get a table.
The meal started with the famous spherified olives that were just magical. Pop them in your mouth and they burst with the most intense and pure olive flavor.
Next up were canned mussels. Unlike in the US where canned is a bad thing, here they allowed the mussels to soften, absorb the flavor of the incredibly flavored oil and were amazing with some bread.
Next up was a baked tray with salt covering the star ingredients. Ready for some table side presentation.
What beautiful and amazingly sweet, slow roasted spot prawns.
Next up, uni served directly from its shell. All this was caught earlier in the day and incredibly fresh, sweet and creamy.
A really nice Iberico jamon and panne con tomate - perfect as always.
The best croquette I've ever had, it was simple and perfectly executed, not overly fatty or saturated in oil.
A fun mini-shrimp sandwhich with aioli, amazingly fluffy and tasty.
Then an impromptu guitar sessions from a server for the restaurant was fun.
The final savory course of this epic meal was perfectly roasted quail, my favorite game bird.
Then time for dessert and they had me pegged, saying they'll take care of it and bring something out. To start, this amazingly light fig and cheese dish topped with honey - so good.
And of course a chocolate tort that was lighter than it looked and so incredibly rich of chocolate flavor.
Bodega 1900 surpassed what I was expecting and I loved the more rustic style vs Tickets across the street. I'd highly recommend coming if you ever find yourself in Barcelona.
