Our awesome La Premiere attendant escorted us from the Qantas First Class Lounge to our gate which luckily was very close.
Door 1 was used only for La Premiere, nice and private.
Down the jetway, so excited to see the cabin!
And here we are, the La Premiere cabin consisting of 1-2-1 suites. Absolutely stunning and very chic as Air France likes to remind everyone.
We had the two middle seats while another couple each wanted window seats.
The footrest had a throw blanket waiting and slippers on the ground. The great thing is under the foot rest is a storage space for a backpack or bag for easy access.
Leather wrapped amenity kits with top notch products were distributed as well as pajamas in nice La Premiere tote bags.
An excited MsFlamingo ready for her first long haul flight!!
The detailed touches like these lamps between our seats were extremely classy. The La Premiere horse logo is used throughout the product and service.
The wine list menu was good and solid. Being nit-picky, I wish the reds had a bit more age on them.
The food menu had some great options, was looking forward to trying it.
This gentleman did the La Premiere design and is top notch in my book.
To start on the ground we enjoyed (well more specifically, I enjoyed several) glasses of 2006 Comtes de Champagne from Taittinger. Really nice, toasty with a mineral finish.
Our cabin mates joining us and getting settled.
A newspaper cart being wheeled by for our selection.
Pushback was on time and amazingly we didn't get held up in LAX taxi traffic and were off. They had a great forward view camera, however it's on the landing gear so once it was retracted, that was it.
Within minutes of takeoff the crew had the curtains drawn and the service began.
We started with an amuse bouche of grape and goat cheese, scallop and parmesan crisp with parma ham. Tasty way to kick the meal off along with another glass of champagne.
Everyone relaxing and enjoying the flight so far.
The window shades were perfect for the meal service.
Each seat had a divider that could be raised for additional privacy besides the curtains which completely close each suite off from the cabin if you want.
Let the party begin! The LaPremiere tableware was gorgeous.
Really appreciated proper French butter and loaf of bread.
First wine of the meal was from Louis Latour, some apple, apricot, sea and mineral-acidity.
First course was the shiitake mushroom soup, really flavorful and not too heavy.
Next up the caviar and had to go with another glass of the champagne. Was served with traditional garnishes and well presented. MsFlamingo is pretty indifferent to caviar so I helped her finish hers.
Preparing for the next course I went with the 2011 Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux. It turned out to be better than I was expecting given not much age for a Bordeaux. It had good dark berry flavors, a little earthiness and tannins that were starting to integrate well. Would be interested to try this one in another 10-years.
Some mild chop in flight making the wines dance.
Presentation of the main course, they really know how to do it right!
I went with the herb crusted lamb with jus. It was absolutely fantastic, prepared medium and was very flavorful. Easily the best airplane main course I've had even amongst different F products by other airlines.
MsFlamingo had the veal risotto presented with different mustard options.
For the salad I decided it was only good measure after my two glasses of Bordeaux to give the Burgundy a try. The 2012 Chanson Pommard which turned out to be good with a dark red berry fruit body, not too high acidity and richer mouthfeel.
The build your own salad was very fresh, I had it with some duck, pine nuts and shaved parmesan.
Next up was the very French cheese course, fantastic presentation.
At this point I could only attempt to try two of the five.
Finally dessert. I couldn't decide between the chocolate and lime cheesecake mousses, but our friendly flight attendant insisted I try both. Of course both were excellent!
After waiving the white flag, all four of us were ready for bed and asked for turn down service as we took turns changing into pajamas. A nice and thick mattress pad was laid down in addition to the bedding.
An example of the fully made bed.
The bathrooms in the front of the cabin were nice, not too big, but well appointed.
MsFlamingo excited for her bed to be finished.
In my typical fashion, I was the last one in the cabin to get ready for bed...
I asked the FA team to wake me up 2-hours before arrival so I could get up and ready. I slept solidly the whole time. Unfortunately, MsFlamingo didn't sleep as well with the turbulence we experienced over the Atlantic :(
Soon, the rest of the cabin started waking up.
The FA team started to convert our beds back into seats.
As I like to do after waking up, we took a walk down the length of the plane and checked out each cabin. The AF Business Class is arranged as reverse herringbone 1-2-1 layout which ironically is more private than LaPremiere, or as MsFlamingo would say "cozy".
Despite having had a Michelin equivalent feast earlier, time for some breakfast to ward off the potential hangover. It started with some fresh fruit and I went with black tea.
Next up I went with the berry bread pudding at the recommendation of the crew and was very tasty. The presentation in the cassoulet was great like the main course earlier.
After breakfast we all changed back into our clothes and finished watching shows as we began our descent. Time to catch up on one of the many sequels of Pirates.
Soon enough we started our descent into CDG and I appreciated the options for flight tracking, especially the "cockpit view".
Banking over the French countryside.
As we were descending, we ended up doing a go-around earlier because a 380 caused too much wake turbulence. Soon enough we were back onto final with great views from the landing gear camera.
And like that, our wonderful LaPremier flight was over. The only thing that made it bearable was the fact we had the LaPremiere lounge at CDG to look forward to.
As soon as the doors opened, the crew bid us adieu and our LaPremiere lounge agent was there to escort us to the lounge via car down from the jet bridge. Check out the next post for the LaPremiere Lounge experience, not to be missed!
