After a quick ride to CDG, MrsFlamingo and I bid adieu as she had to go to Gothenburg for work while I took the long way home trying to get my Aegean segments to get Star Alliance Gold. While I had booked economy tickets, I used one of my upgrades as part of being Silver to get upgraded to business class if there was room.
After checking my suitcase, I headed through the maze that is CDG to my gate. It also made me really miss the wonderful La Premiere ground service.
More mazes to navigate.
And to a pretty desolate terminal, but at least good plane spotting. Got to see our A321 arriving as well as a 380 in the background.
Another 380 with a 77W taking off.
Soon enough it was time to board, when I asked the agents if my business upgrade had cleared, they said they didn't know, but board and they'll come get me if it did. Hmmm.
Typical cabin, but at least the front several rows have extra legroom and for business class the middle seat is blocked.
A window seat for takeoff.
We pushed back and took off on a rainy runway.
And promptly cleared the clouds for our bit over 3-hours flight.
Hmmm what test track/proving ground is that?
Shortly after the cabin crew got up, they awkwardly came and asked if I'd like to use my business class upgrade. Sure thing and was moved up to an aisle seat in row 1. I forgot to take a picture of the menu so did afterwards, but it was comprehensive and you can tell they really care.
A few interesting looking options.
And an interesting wine list, but after the night before at L'Atelier, I decided to dry out and skip any wine, just sparkling water and work for this flight.
The appetizer with a pastrami was nice, it tasted better than it looks.
I went for the chicken with penne, it also tasted better than it looked and was perfect to ward off the hangover.
The dessert was also good with a chocolate-sesame tart. With some coffee I was feeling great and ready to work for an hour or so until we began our descent.
Soon enough on our descent into ATH.
And touched down in sunny Athens.
My first Aegean experience was quite positive, it definitely is one of the better domestic business class experiences I've had in Europe and was excited to see if this was a one off after my flight to ARN in a day.
