Ristorante da Pasticcino

Updated: Aug 11, 2018

After the Ferrari factory tour, it was lunchtime and we were hungry. My friend took us to a great place in the Modena countryside called Ristorante da Pasticcino. I should have taken the pictures of the decor which was adorned with Ferrari memorabilia. Pasticcino himself used to be the chef for the F1 team. He insisted on not letting us order and bringing out food and wine.

Starting with a fantastic polenta with cream, mushrooms and some sort of very flavorful ground meat.

We had a 2009 Marzieno, a lovely Sangiovese.

Then a sample of three of the best pastas I've ever had. On the left we tortellini with a meat ragu and parmesan, so simple and tasty. In the middle was a bolognese with crisp sage, also stunning. Then my absolute favorite of tiny tortellini with cheese inside and parmesan sauce - stunning!

Then time for something sweet and of course some dessert wine starting with Passito.

Then a great panettone with zabaglione - perfect together!

Then a digestif of nocchino, I wish this was easier to find stateside.

After a wonderful meal, we were shown memorabilia and regaled with all sorts of fun stories like the best F1 team bosses were Jean Todt and Flavio Briatore. Such a great character and host!

Back to Maranello and time for the museum.
