After checking out the American Flagship First lounge, I made my way to TBIT and straight to the Qantas First Class lounge.
Overlooking the TBIT check-in.
And infamous security.
Right at the end of the T4 connector is the entrance to the Qantas First lounge. It's one of the best lounges operating in the US and after my last time through here, had to get some of the amazing calamari.
It's a really elegant lounge, not as modern as the American Flagship or Amex lounges, but one of the best in the US.
My favorite chill out spot near the windows.
It was a busy time with several flights getting read to leave, a lot of people having dinner.
I considered sitting at the bar, but decided on a table.
Great and simple place settings.
The classics and rotating specials.
I went with a glass of the Perrier Jouet, overall nice but a bit sweeter on the palate than I recalled. I also only had a glass since I knew I had the Krug 2004 waiting on the flight.
Keeping things light, I started with heirloom tomatoes, bocconcini (basically burrata but dryer and more airy - fantastic stuff) and basil. It was incredibly fresh, flavorful and perfect.
Then one of the best calamari dishes anywhere. It's lightly battered, fried perfectly, tender and with the aioli and other sauce, along with the pepper slices, just superb.
After my pre-dinner snack, I decided to lounge and went looked for a chair along the window.
Posted up with the remaining champagne.
About T-40 out, I left the lounge to wander towards the gate and chat with MsFlamingo and The Chairman before they went to bed. As you exit the Qantas lounge, you can see the Korean and Star Alliance lounges.
The beautiful and impressive shopping area.
And the live monitors, they've really done a great job here.
I considered checking out the Business lounge but decided against it this time.
Past PF Changs.
And shockingly and I'll go here the next time I'm at LAX is ink.sack from Michael Voltaggio!
Another great time in the Qantas First lounge, looking forward to future visits.
