Off to Europe

Updated: Aug 9, 2018

We are starting our trip to Europe for vacation for a couple weeks. It's MsFlamingo's first time to Europe. We are going to visit Budapest, Zurich, Barcelona and Copenhagen. They're all some of my favorite cities and have been lucky to visit them each (except CPH) several times before, especially for work travel.

I was able to score us Air France La Premiere tickets via LAX with the help of SFO777's booking services. Our outbound itinerary has us going OAK-LAX, LAX-CDG, CDG-BUD and returning via CPH-CDG, CDG-LAX, LAX-OAK.

It was a very rainy Pineapple Express storm as they say and got to Oakland with plenty of time to spare before our Delta flight to LAX.

Check-in was simple enough, although the attendant was definitely not in a talkative mood. I told MsFlamingo not to worry and once we are LAX, the La Premiere service would start.

We breezed through security and tried to find some coffee and breakfast. Oakland doesn't have much in the way of lounges so we settled on an Asian fusion breakfast buns.

We headed down the terminal to eat breakfast and do some work before out flight.

As it turned out, our inbound aircraft took longer to leave LAX and we ended up getting delayed by a bit over 30 minutes. Our E175 arrived to whisk us down.

Boarding commenced and after battling through gate lice and a very disorganized cueing process, were headed down the jetway.

Let's get this trip started!

The First Class cabin is arranged in a 1-2 with economy being 2-2. Overall comfortable seats for short haul duty.

Pre-departure water bottle, start the hydrating early.

An excited MsFlamingo to get going on our trip.

After a taxi and hold for a departure slot, we were off out of the rain.

Beverage and snack service, we stuck with sparkling water and bananas. Don't worry, the healthy start would quickly end at LAX.

A quick and smooth flight, over the Santa Barbara area and can you spot the other plane taking off to join our route?

We began our smooth and quick descent into LAX.

Hello smog.

Hello In-n-Out!

Touchdown

Then we had to hold because there was an aircraft at our gate. I was definitely getting annoyed because I wanted to get through transit to TBIT and the Qantas lounge. At least there was some cool spotting with several heavies taking off. Apologies for the blurry pic.

Eventually we were released to our gate at T3.

Overall a quick, smooth flight with friendly crew. We were definitely in a rush to get off the plane and take the connector to T3. Check out the next post for the Qantas lounge.
