The first night we arrived, MsFlamingo had a work dinner and I met up with a friend who was also traveling on business. He heard from a friend there is good Turkish food and we went to Ottomania. It was authentic and tasty. I wasn't too hungry with a bit of jet lag and went with the appetizer sampler.
The next day I was wandering around and went to the fish market to check it out and find a restaurant there to eat at.
The fish market wasn't too big, but had amazing super fresh fish.
All sorts of things from dried, cured and fresh items.
I ended up choosing Restaurant Gabriel for lunch. It's located on a mezzanine level overlooking the fish market.

A well priced menu with lots of options, but definitely recommend asking the servers for their opinions based on your tastes.
I went with a glass of Sancerre, it was perfectly limestone, citrus and great acidity. The bread basket was fantastic with different types of fresh and rye breads.
I started with the fish soup that was creamy, rich and absolutely amazing. It wasn't a chowder per se, but deeply rich and decadent and the most pure I've ever had.
But that's not all, I also got the langoustines or as they call them, crayfish (when I asked, they pointed out what Americans call crayfish, they call mud-bugs lol). They were stunning, so sweet, succulent and fresh. The best part is it was cooked in lemon butter and the grilled bread was amazing to dip in it!
The next day I came back for lunch after being enthralled by Gabriel's. Outside there's a great fisherman's statue.
On the next day's visit to Feskekorka.
Sadly the line at Gabriel's was out the door/stairs and I made do with the other restaurant within the market. I started with oysters that were good, but not great.
Then tried the smoked salmon with brioche and mustard. It was good and the flavors and textures melded together amazingly well. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Overall this restaurant was fine, but wouldn't recommend you go out of your way for when you could go to Gabriel's. In hindsight I would've just waited to go back.
One of the evenings we oddly stopped at a Mexican restaurant called Puta Madre lol. We started off outside on a decent evening, great atmosphere.
Also great cocktails, I had a gin fizz and loved it.
But then it started to rain and us weak Californians went running inside.
Awesome decor though!
We ordered several dishes to share and they were all incredible. Would highly recommend going here!
After karting, my friend and I had a late lunch at The Barn at the recommendation of someone. It was incredibly hipster, but awesome at the same time with great cocktail, beer and wine programs.
I started off with a fantastic gin and pea cocktail that worked amazingly well.
The burgers were awesome, I went with a plain one and it hit the spot, also could tell the ingredients used were top notch.
We got an order of sweet potato and regular fries, both good in their own ways. Also the sauces were great and creative.
The quick summary is Gothenburg food is really good. Everyone takes it very seriously and they care. Prices are very reasonable and it helps make it fun to spend time and want to keep exploring with so many culinary options.
