After a long drive and frustrating traffic near the airport, we made it to CMB and I bid adieu to my driver. Right as you enter the airport you go through a preliminary security scan.
Then walk through some shops.
Then through another security scan. Surprisingly no separate lines for premium pax.
After that everyone is free to check-in and I proceeded to the Emirates counters since I couldn't OLCI for some reason. For all classes of service there was really no line, but that's probably also because I was there early enough before the flight.
After that I headed through yet another checkpoint and customs. Finally free to explore the terminal and lounge.
Plenty of shopping and overall a decent small/medium sized airport.
Picture looking out onto the tarmac, lots of remote stand gates.
Then I made my way to the Emirates lounge which is a bit hidden.
Eventually found the elevator.
Then the entrance to the first and business class lounge.
It was empty since I was early. A fine lounge, definitely the old Emirates style lounge.
The dining area with a buffet.
An appetizer and dessert section.
The drinks section, good wines for a business class level lounge.
The hot bar had decent looking food, I only had a small snack and decided to save myself for the flight.
I posted up near the window to get some work done before going back into the terminal to explore.
After a while, before I headed to explore, I decided to take a shower.
It was definitely small quarters, but at least there were two showers available.
After being refreshed, checked out the second bar.
And the famous Emirates dates, I love the wooden box.
Eventually the lounge started to get busier and with about T-60, I headed out to walk around the terminal and head to the gate.
The Emirates lounge at Colombo is a fine lounge, nothing special, but easy to pass time while waiting for a flight.
