Bostonian at The Langham in Hong Kong

Updated: Jan 15, 2019

I had a meeting and luckily my fellow attendee was a foodie who recommended we meet at the Bostonian restaurant in the Langham hotel.

For lunch there's a buffet that looked nice, but I was more interested to try something from the ala carte menu.

The restaurant was smart with nice wood paneling and hipster lighting.

A fairly happening place with several lunch meetings.

We took a look at possibly ordering wine, but I decided to pass this time in preparation for dinner later on.

The menu has a great selection of seafood and steaks.

We decided to split a Caesar salad, while it was fresh and technically fine, it didn't wow either of us.

Some fresh bread and butter to go along with the salad, both types and butter were nice.

But the pièce de résistance was absolutely stunning. I was really in the mood for classic lobster and it was delivered, and as of now, the best lobster I've ever had. The lobster itself was so sweet, succulent and tender. It was steamed and cooked to absolute perfection, not a second too much or too little. To go along with the lobster were Hollandaise and bearnaise sauces which were wonderful and clearly freshly made. For some starch we split the spinach ravioli which were some of the best I've ever had. The sauce was wonderful with great gruyere cheese style and some caramelization at the end.

All together, this was a fantastic meal that greatly exceeded my expectations. I was expecting The Bostonian to be a solid hotel restaurant, but this was a legitimate great restaurant I can't wait to come back and visit. Also I don't know what the deal is, but Hong Kong makes some of the best pastas anywhere in the world, including Italy itself. Definitely go if you are ever in the Kowloon area!
