Barcelona 3 - Maritime museum and Castel

Updated: Aug 10, 2018

We had a great five days in Barcelona, in fact so much so that this section is divided into a couple sections:

Separate posts - exceptional or Michelin food related posts consisting of Lomo Alto, Dux, Escriba, Passadis del Pep, Xerta and Lasarte

For our final day in Barcelona, we checked out the Maritime Museum and the Castell Montjuic. On our way to the Maritime Museum we headed down Rambla and checked out the monument on the main road.

We arrived at the museum which turned out to be setup really nicely.

The tour started with a great video exhibit that also had projections, really informative from the start of Barcelona to modern times.

Checking out several of the exhibits.

And then around to check out the miniature and full scale replicas of a war ship.

Check out that detail!

Details as we walk up to check out the deck.

Where all the crew would sit to row.

We wrapped up the tour and headed outside to head back to our hotel and to the Aire Bathes.

We had a great time at the Aire Baths, would highly recommend it and we enjoyed it almost as much as the one in NY.

After our massages we headed back to the hotel and had dinner at 3-star Lasarte. Check out this post for the meal.

For our final day in Barcelona, we headed to Castell Montjuic with a brief taxi ride. It was an absolutely beautiful park heading up the hill.

Checking out some of the big guns out front of the Castell (which really is more of a fort than castle).

Across the bridge into the main entrance.

Well kept gardens out front.

Cannons overlooking the harbor and Med.

Amazing views!

Monument for the WW2 axis atrocities.

A display of weapons from back in the day.

Up to the very top of the Castell.

View towards Barcelona

Good view of the Sagrada.

After taking in the views we headed back down the hill.

This time we took the gondola down.

We walked back to our hotel and got to see parts of the city that were more for locals than tourists.

And like that, our stay in Barcelona came to a close. It's still one of my absolute favorite cities in the world and can't wait to be back!

Copenhagen was next, flying out the following morning.
